Xerox Researcher Yu Qi On Turning Science Into Art

My name should be pronounced as Yu Chee. But everyone here, just for convenience, they just call me Yu Kee. I’m leading the value add toner design and development. I got my Ph.D. in polymer chemistry, so I am trained as a chemist. One of the good things about Xerox is you don’t have to change jobs. You can actually work in the different divisions or further explore yourself in the different organizations and just try something new. Toner is interesting. Right now we’re doing color. Potentially we could also put down functional materials and make sensors on paper. Make RFIDs or, like, there are a lot more opportunities. We play with the scientific principles to make art possible.
