My favorite song: Heaven is a place. A place where nothing. Nothing ever happens… It’s hard to imagine that nothing at all, could be so exciting, could be this much fun…

40 years later and this band is still ahead of it's time. Pure genius. I put Talking Heads on in the morning, have coffee, and head our for my walk w/ lots of clarity and energy. This stuff is brain food.

The band in heaven plays the first four notes of Activision’s Pitfall again and again, whilst Chinese food is still served in red cardboard containers with Confucian characters, and Gilda is always on at 11:30 pm on Sat. Night.

Talking Heads, saw them at Roskilde Festival 1979, they did 5 songs from this magnificient album, so modern and valuable today. Great songs, great music, the electric guitar at the end of Mind is extatic, and on it goes.

Even though I've had this album for around a quarter of a century, sometimes listening to it I still get a sense of astonishment swelling up both in my mind and gut.
Make no mistake about it, even in the experimental and exciting era in which it was made, this thing was an wondrous outlier. No wonder the Heads were voted into the Rock n Roll Hall Of Fame so soon (2002) and without touching hoop, so to speak.
But on an off-topic editorial rant, the fact that Roxy Music were elected just barely in 2018 screams at me that the Hall Of Fame is not a very impressive organization.

An album that changed my life … for those 80's … it still sounds fresh and makes me want to dance … I was recording a version of "Heaven" in Spanish some years ago …

Attended a concert in Austin, Texas in 1979 at age 22. The B-52's opened for the Talking Heads. And you know, to be honest, I enjoyed the B-52's more. They seemed more light-hearted & to take themselves less seriously. But it was a fantastic night overall. My ears rang for three days afterwards. Early auditory damage. I've got moderate tinnitus now at age 62. Don't really enjoy this music much anymore, now a past phase…..but man, it was hot & intense at the time.

Yup. This record and The Cars first were, and still are, the finale to the 70's and started the 80's New Wave for sure. My friends all thought I was daft listening to this. They were all listening to Lynyrd Skynrd, Bruce Springsteen and ZZ Top for crissakes…

A fantastic, fantastic album. Everyone is invited to mine. Rega Planar 3, Audiolab 8000a and 8000p and two pairs of RTL3's pumping out this album at a healthy pump. Ask my neighbours! Brilliant album, best of the three important ones, and the one I play at least once a week. Coming?

First time I've heard this album all the way through and it is definitely as good as everyone's been telling me for years. Also, love of music should be a journey that only ends when you die. Of course I enjoy listening to stuff I've never heard, but also learning about it as well (like a good little music nerd) and I never knew that Memories Can Wait from the first Living Colour album was actually a Talking Heads cover!

The "artistic maturity" with which he handles the delicate, intricate little rhythm guitar riffs always amazes me…."Mind" is a classic example.  Then at 6:29 he brings the guitar to life, that part always makes me close my eyes and writhe a little.

Discovered this a few months ago, at which point I would have gladly labelled it "essential listening". Now, a few months later, I think it is one of the greatest albums of all time…
