Jensen on G2's crazy comps, how TL could adapt, and how he came to NA to "try something different"

we just went to or today I think it's still fair to say that your Vista better reads in there so I hopefully you guys will keep cheering for us and maybe we can take down those Europeans that you will never get nerve you will get an oh five yeah so and every one of you will win this is Darius from the shot-caller joined here by Captain America or Jensen which one is it right now a bit of both maybe a bit of both obviously carrying the shield and a very cool new Team Liquid Jersey the team went to an out today finally turning it around was sona tarik the answer or was there anything else from Team Liquid well we had a long discussion about the game yesterday so I think we learned a bit from that but also Sona tarik is pretty overpowered if the enemy team can punish it and yeah I mean I would definitely say this Sona tarik helped us a lot and they didn't really have like good ancestors I mean they're just experimenting for sure so it makes sense but I also think at the same time we we improved a lot from what we learned from yesterday any specific angles that you can talk about that you specifically learned or picked up from the you team I just notice whenever we play against the EU teams like they're really really good at snowballing whenever they have a lead and like whenever someone is like falling behind us I mean they're really good at like covering and helping out that person so they're just like really really fast and like prioritizes like helping each other like really fast so that's one thing I noticed so for a nice team cohesion good to hear that now entering this tournament you know even a while Beca when all the teams were announced I realized hey this is not gonna be referrals it's gonna be the official competition of who's the best you mid where and it's three Danes as well if I'm not mistaken so yeah interesting fun fact there how would you like roughly ranked you know all the all the mid laners competing at this tournament so far I think I'm trying to remember oh I'd say caps is probably number one and then I think it's really tricky to rank after caps I mean I think I think I'm the best from North America but I think I also have to have that mindset otherwise I feel like I'd be a loser and then yeah probably put myself number two it's it's really hard to like Josh exactly just based on like these small games because I think nuke talks a really great player when I've watched him but I mean he was playing Kaiser myths so I don't really know like it's too hard yeah it's too hard to judge him based on that I think nemesis played pretty well but at the same time he was like kind of just if K no game just farming so it's I don't know it didn't seem like he really did too much but I mean he scaled and had a lot of farm so that was it was good yeah it's really hard for me to like rate the audios honestly so I think I'm just gonna put caps number one and then myself like a round number to like I mean I think everyone else just like pretty close to each other I don't think anyone hears like the worst like I think ever just has different strengths I think that's the easiest way to put it that's very nice thank for sure okay so we got the the humid down down to the core so so pretty much you've obviously been in an a4 for a very long time you're now grandfather officially so compared to like why do you think that so many humans make the way to an a specifically because you know we've had you and barracks in there for a while but now in this key has also returned and in general it feels like hey a lot of humans would like to go to an a I don't know to me it was just since I already lived in Europe and I lived in Cologne briefly I kind of already experienced that lifestyle and while I liked it like I didn't like the city too much or just Germany as a whole like it's you know it's a fine place right but I've always heard about America and I was like I need I need to try it at some point and I think it was just the best opportunity to try it because I think I'll have regrets not trying it not knowing whatever like and then if I didn't like it you know I thought I could always just go back so in a sense it was a bit of a gamble but yeah I like it here and I think it's just it just makes sense to you know try something else cuz most of these people who come to na have already like experienced EU or just LEC not LEC LCS back then yeah so I don't know just to try something different I guess and I mean right now you're the European team so obviously way better but I think people just want to try something different yeah it's it's worth trying new things to it to have great experiences you obviously join Team Liquid at the start of the year and have had good success so for MSI finals was that a very special event for you personally um in a sense yeah but when you make it that far and you lose and you know it really sucks and then you kind of like lose track of the accomplishment because you didn't make it like the full way but you know like looking back at it like yeah it's it's definitely something to be proud of because you know the goal for this team was to win worlds and yeah even though we weren't able to win a messiah I think we learned a lot from it so moving forward I think yeah it's it's been a good experience and I'm happy that we made it so far and Team Liquid is obviously gonna look like the front-runner for an a in Simon's summer split and yeah expectations for worlds are still pretty high yeah I'd say so I mean none of the and other na teams are looking too strong right now I mean as we can see every na team is losing pretty pretty badly to the European teams I mean I guess you could make the argument that we're using key straps so maybe we're looking better than we are but yeah it feels like the European teams are just a lot better than the NA teams in general and I think we're probably the closest to the European teams maybe just because we practice against them at practice against TCU a lot at MSI and yeah any favourite teams to to practice against that are like particularly fun I mean practicing sg2 is definitely interesting because they play all these random champions and even though they're playing it like people says it's like troll stuff right but honestly I'm pretty sure they win more games playing troll stuff than did they play normal styles I'm pretty sure pretty sure pretty sure have you already like picked up a few a troll pics from them or are you like keeping them and secret I mean I've screamed against them and we've definitely like seen some very interesting stuff I mean it's not so much mid lane stuff it's more like you know they have such a flexible team so they just do all kind of random stuff so you know I think it'll be cool if we could play those styles but I think like double if we need to practice our mages and stuff like that so it's a long way away I think okay one question I was always wondering about and I asked this almost every day if you will obviously we have three Danish mid learners were all very good we have wonder who came over for for revolts we got Sven of course and auntie has embarked miners there are so many amazing Danish players do you have like any personal thoughts on why Denmark in particular so amazing not just at League of Legends but eSports in general is it for for you did you have like any points – or any players to point to that you wanted to be like or would you make of that fact I don't know I think everyone probably has like slightly different reasons for me it was I grew up in a really small city so I didn't really have much to do besides playing League of Legends and games in general and then the school system is like pretty like relaxed in a way like like sure you need to try hard right but even if you fail at school like it's not it's not the end of the world and you don't pay money to go to school so so that definitely helps – so there's not like really much pressure from at least from my parents that you know you have to really really perform well in school because I was kind of like slacking off a lot on just playing video games so I think I guess I had like a pretty good head start just because I wasn't like paying too much attention to school so I'd say those are probably the biggest reasons for me at least that's fair that's fair you obviously are in a team full of veterans and wildly accomplished players when you first join the team were there any things you immediately picked up on or you you picked up on over time yeah I mean initially my first impression was that everyone just knew their role extremely well that was something I hadn't really seen before like my teammates were doing stuff that I've never seen from my previous teammates before I was like well like this role can really impact the game a lot more than I thought it could so that was like the first impression I had that everyone was just really experienced and like looking for stuff that I had never really seen before for my teammates so that was really surprising to me so I think just initially like we had a huge advantage over the other teams because we were so much better and then I think over time like the other teams kind of like picked up on a style and like the stuff we did so then it just you know helped the region as a whole I mean obviously not enough to take out Europe yeah our family but still like yeah that was like the first impression I had that just everyone was very creative and in the way they played speaking of creativity a very unique point of t2 and we've seen a couple of times the Swift rivals they like to roll suave and obviously pick some champions that they can play wherever can we expect more role swaps in competitive play LCS em anytime soon what do you think of that in general yeah I mean it's something even Origen Ted when they beat TSM they put Patrick McKenna Ericsson which is pretty crazy and they won so I mean I think it really just comes down to like if you know someone like doublelift can't learn to play the mages or the stars of middling because I think that takes a lot of time and I mean obviously for g2 it makes sense cuz perks is played mid lane but even Patrick could do it so I don't know yeah I think anything is possible but I think it's definitely something that we should look into trying I think for mid laners it's a lot easy to adapt to bottling because it's not as in-depth and usually like the support can like kind of dictate a lot easier rather than like mid lane you have to like work really well with their jungler and just know middling stuff in general so that that one's like a lot harder so you know it really just comes down to like if the ad carry's can learn to play mid lane properly I'd say but I definitely think this is something we should try I would be very excited for sure I was actually looking at you and maybe impact swapping I felt like that would have been an interesting one yeah it's it's actually something we've talked about a lot and sometimes when we play match ups that are very flexible like we haven't really tried swapping from middle one but sometimes we like swap like level 5 level 6 you know if like we are playing a team 80 top and AP mid like swap base what the enemy is building but we haven't really done it like full lane swap yet but it's nothing something we should try I would be very excited again of course our fan base is mainly European so if there's anything would like to say back to your old European fans now is your chance well I hope you guys continue to support me even though I play an na and even though we just went to or today I think it's so fair to say that your mr. better region so I hopefully you guys will keep cheering for us and maybe we can take down those Europeans sure thank you so much for your time this whilst Aerys from the shot-caller and I'll see you guys next time with more reference content hope you have a good day CA guessin bye bye we'd especially like to thank crush of Buddha which come on scooter Etienne even itäôs Lucas like a lazy Raven Lamb of Utah and Adam of Austria for your very special support and of course also all the people whose names you see scrolling past you without you guys we would have closed some probably a while ago so thank you so much for your help thank you you you

Most LOL pro-players are to a degree intelligent, which really amazes me. They are kids, who mostly play games. How could it be?

Nice interview and it's nice to be humble. I admire confidence and it's okay to say that you think you're good. Nothinh wrong with ranking yourself as 2. Best of luck to Team Liquid from EU fan 😀

Missed opportunity for Jensen to say “those smug Europeans” as a double reference to DL’s “those smug asians” and Perkz’s smug face.

I appreciate how humble and calm he is accepting that Europe is a region which they are trying to overcome and will do their best to do so
