An Impossible Photo Challenge!? Feat. Irene Rudnyk, Taylor Jackson, Jason Vong, Manny Ortiz, & More!

(hip-hop music) – Miguel: Hey what’s up everybody. Miguel Quiles here. I’m at Sony Kando 3.0 with a group of very talented
professional photographers. And we’re going to be doing
professional stuff today, okay? But before we tell you
what we’re going to do, I want to pass the mic along to let everybody introduce themselves in case you don’t know who they are, if you’re living under a
rock, whatever it might be, you’ll find out who they are. So let me pass the mic along here. So introduce yourself. – So I just hopped in here. I’m a new recruit and
my name is Lee Zavitz. So I don’t even know what we’re doing yet. – What’s your YouTube? – My YouTube is LeeZavitz. – There we go, cool, cool. – Hi I’m Taylor Jackson, I
am a wedding photographer and I’m excited for this
challenge it’s gonna be fun. – Where can they find you? – On YouTube. – YouTube?
– Taylor Jackson. – That works. – Instagram.
– That works. – All right, this guy, who’s this? Oh, nope, for you. – Everybody’s just trolling me today. Hi, I’m Manny Ortiz. I do only
professional YouTube videos and professional gear reviews. – Yes. – And tests, and auto focusing tests, okay. – Those are the things that we’ll need. – If you want something
very unprofessional, like ratchet setups, like no… Like footage that’s not cinematic at all. 1080p, no 4K… – I thought it was 720, hey, you’re stepping up… – And you can visit my
channel, you can like, zoom in slowly on ‘Irene Rudnyk’, that’s my name, you can find me on YouTube or Instagram, I do portraiture. Yeah… – You guys know who I am. Jason Vong, Sony Alpha Gear channel. Youtube, find me. Jason Vong, V-O-N-G, thank you. – Hey guys, what’s up, it’s
Potato Jet. (all laugh) – I should’ve went with that one. – [Miguel Quiles] That was great. – I’m Gerald Undone, I make nerdy videos on camera tech, whatever,
creative technology, check me out on YouTube, Gerald Undone. Cool? – This will be your most
scientific one, by the way. – Yeah, this is, by far, the most scientific test I’ve ever done. Like, the other stuff is just amateur hour compared to this, so, buckle up. – It took this event to bring all of these heroes together, to make this super professional test. – That’s right, you
ain’t never seen nothing this professional before, so, buckle up. – Let me explain what’s happening here. So, here’s the situation, there’s a lot of websites out there, that test cameras, they test lenses.
– They don’t do it the right way. – But yeah, they’re just not going all the way, right? And so, I brought this collection of very specific photographers
together, because we’re the only ones in
the entire industry, that are able to provide
this professional test. So, here’s what’s gonna happen; we have a bunch of bikes
lined up here, okay? We’re all gonna take turns. We’re gonna do three runs. We’re gonna get on a bike. We have Ms. Irene, who
is going to be modeling for us, as you can see. Gorgeous, ready to go,
standing right here. And actually, I’ll show
you, ’cause I think you didn’t see this. So, you’re gonna be standing here with your most model-y, and I
don’t mean just model-y, I want I.G, yeah, Instagram model-y, there it is, boom. Then, what’s gonna happen is, we’re gonna jump on this bike. We’re gonna start from, we’ll say from, like, the tree. Is that fair for everyone? Is that the right test? (everyone agrees) That’s a good run?
– [Gerald] You wanted to go nice and fast though, didn’t you? – Yeah, yeah, we should. How much of a stretch do we need, here? – [Gerald] About half a mile. – Half a mile, yeah, I
don’t know about that, that might take all year. I’m kind of a big guy, I might, you know, gas out. Let’s start from the bushes, then. We’ll start form the bushes, we’re gonna go as fast as we can, all right? It’s the Ricky Bobby
rule; you have to go fast. And what we’re gonna do is, you see this line here on the ground, right? And you see where Irene is. So, what we’re gonna do is,
we’re gonna do a drive by, okay? So, we’re gonna have our
camera, we have one shot. We’re not gonna do like
most review websites, where they do burst mode, you know? That’s super easy to do.
– [Lee] That’s unprofessional. – Yeah, it’s super unprofessional, we’re not about that, okay? We need to get, you know, we need to do this the right way. So, we’re gonna go super
fast, as soon as we hit this line, we have to
mash that shutter button. Not only do we have to do that, we have to get the shot in focus, and it needs to be well composed. All right, so it’s gonna be a little bit of a challenge, it’s gonna be hard. I don’t know if you guys are up to it, I don’t know if I’m up
to it, to be honest. This is so professional,
– [Gerald] Single shot? – Single shot, no you know, continuous… ’cause that’s what the other websites do. We do single, okay? Question is, who’s going to be the first? – [Gerald] Let me jump in, do you want a standardized delay? Everybody using the same mode?
– Yes, so, let’s do this. 85 millimeter lens, is what we’re gonna use for this. I mean, I tried it with the 135, and it was so professional, but it was super easy. To be honest, like, 135 is like we’re not trying. That’s what, again, the other websites do. We’re gonna make it with an 85 mil lens. We’re gonna shoot it wide
open, my friends, F1.4 – [Manny] That’s the only way to do it. – All right, it’s the only way to do it, if we’re really trying to
torture-test this stuff. And yeah, so, that’s
how we’re gonna do it. Settings might all be different 85 wide open one shot Literally as you are riding by, I’m gonna pretend I’m on my bike here. I’m riding by… As soon as I hit here…
BAM! And just keep going. Coz you got the shot, right? – Are we using a control
camera? Like, we all use the same camera? – Sure, that works. – I think this one might
top the 600 millimeter (Miguel laughs) – It might be like a 45
minute episode, though, we don’t know. – All right, I’m going first. – All right, let’s do it. Manny is stepping up on
the plate to go first. (Background music fades up) – [Miguel] Good speed, good speed Now!(man laughing) Uh!! (Miguel laughing) – [Miguel] Failure to fire. – I don’t even know
what happened right now. Okay? Let’s see. – This is the most precise
camera testing I’ve ever done, most intense. – [Gerald] Oh, shit! (laughs) – It didn’t take. – I can coast from here, right? She is not in at all. – You didn’t get it? – No, dude, it’s crazy. (men laughing) – I’m like, I for sure had it. It’s like, it’s this. (men laughing) – Oh that’s a great tree. – You’re shooting nature like me. – What’s this? What am I shooting? What tree is that? (all chatting) – It looks like the one
behind her (giggles) – Right, so we have already had a first, I don’t know, three runs or so. And we made a little adjustments
to the camera settings so let’s talk about that really quick. What are our setting changes here? – So there’s three modes in which you can release the shutter,
you can either set it to release priority, balanced emphasis, or focused priority. When you’re
on focused, it doesn’t take the shot until it’s in focus. That’s no good here, because we’re not taking the shot until we’re half way down the road, so we switched it to release, so that whether you’re in focus or not, It goes when you press the shutter. It’s making for probably
a more professional test, would you say? – 100%, that’s why we have you here. – Right. – Because you’re bringing
that professionalism to this test. – So Jason is gonna be our
professional guinea pig. – Yes. – Don’t worry I got this. Should I ride that bike? Does it have to be the same bike? – Yeah, you have got to
ride the control bike (laughing) – That bike sucks, you have
got to rid the one that sucks. – This one sucks, too. (chatting) – Oh, that’s backpedal.
Oh, shoot, I haven’t backpedaled in a while. Oh God, this is hard (giggles) Oh shoot! – [Miguel] You didn’t even look! (background music fades up) – It didn’t go … Y’all I rigged it! (laughs) – Let me see. Let me see, let me see. – [Miguel] He’s not even
looking at the picture. – This determines your credibility. (all laugh) – I’m gonna have to do this. The world needed a hero. And they couldn’t find one. – Yeah that was definitely a tree (background music fades up)

The intro looks like the the adult version of Stranger Things. I would like to add a Stranger Things pun but I never watched the series. First world problems.

If you guys ever do a drive-by shooting, at least I know I won't need to duck for cover. 😜 That was so much fun to watch and would've been even more fun to participate in. Great video, thanks for making it.

For a future ep. 2 you could do the same test, but as a camera brand AF comparison test (Sony VS Canon VS Nikon VS Fuji….). I think Canon's AF would do OK at grabbing a single shot. I'm not sure how it'd compare with other brands though.

So triggered! Only one female photographer, and she had to be the model… (I'm sure it had nothing to do with her riding a bike in a skirt!) At least Manny gave her a break.
