A Day In A Life Of Freelance Photographer

A Day In A Life Of Freelance Photographer

I work as a Freelance photographer and press photographer. I work for a few photo agencies And I will talk about my day My task between events is to upload photos as fast as possible. For news portals to be able to take them and use for articles. So most of the time I go to upload photos in some coffee shops. Sometimes I don’t have time for that so I sit just on the ground, just like now and then upload them and retouch them while staying on the ground. And lastly, send photos to archive. That’s one of the biggest parts of my job. Sometimes I walk quite a lot. If it is an intense day I might walk about 20 kilometres. But approximately I walk around 13 kilometres in a day. But it generally depends on what day it is. The most thrilling part of my job is to be the first person in events and witness with my own eyes what is happening and how it is happening. I also get the ability to to work closely with some important people. Be part of important days such as today. So that is a very big part of what I like in my job. I also like speed. I need to be very fast and run a lot. The biggest downside of my job I can see as not being able to plan my time. It is kind of hard because you always need to be ready and sit in city centre since I can get a job any time and while I am anywhere. So it is quite difficult for me. Today is an important day for our country because it is our new presidents’ inauguration a ceremony day and I need to take photos of some parts of the event. And to be in the main parts mostly. And also, today I have a freelance job, to take prom photos in the evening part. So today I have work as a 12 hours shift, maybe more. So it is not an easy day. What about coffee? I can say that I drink a lot of coffee mostly because I go to coffee shops to upload photos and I end up taking a cup. Mostly some kind of lattes or just something sweet. I do not like black coffee but I drink around 3 – 4 cups of coffee in a day. It depends on how many times I need to upload photos. And if I do, then I spend most of that time in coffee shops or libraries. My favourite place for coffee is CAFFEINE In Lithuania, Vilnius What do I do in my free time? I can say most of the time I spend with my friends. But I never let go of my camera. I always have my backpack with me and take photos of friends. For fun, for them so all my friends have a new profile photo to put on social media. So yes most of the time, free time with friends. Quite interesting fact in our job as a press photographer is that sometimes we have to photograph some kind of event which has a photo wall or red carpet and then it’s a big competition between photographers. So to reserve a good spot to take photos We put our camera bags on the ground to reserve it. And it is like special press photographer thing. Aiste: Where are we running Justai? We are running to the president palace. Aiste: Now we need to hurry because we are kind of…. almost late, but not really late yet.
