This applies to full frame cameras. On my Canon crop it is a 58mm equivalent which is not wide angle.

    Amazing video, Julia. 👏
My camera is a Fuji X-T2 (crop) and I’ll buy a new lens soon. The 35mm still perfect for travel photography or I should choose a 23mm?

Do you usually use your 35 at f/1.4 for portraits or you can close a littel when close from model ? Maybe when background is far, you close not to be too blur ?

Thank you Julia love your videos. I used to take my Fuji with three primes now I take only my Fuji x100f with 35mm equivalent lens and I love it.
Haven’t missed a shot and very liberating.for travel. The great photographers of 1950-1960 seemed to do fine. My lens and moving my feel work well.

Arguably the 70-200 is far better for travel. If you are opting for a one camera and one wide lens solution the Ricoh gr series or Fuji 100f are soo much smaller. Really any lens is fine. If you feel it’s to wide crop or use the old “foot” zoom. If it’s too narrow FOV do a panoramic. It’s funny that most people think travel photography is about landscapes.. as someone who has actually been on tons of jobs for Traveller and travel and leisure etc. I can safely say most travel photography is really about food, interiors, and lifestyle straight landscapes play the smallest role in commercial travel photography.

Yes I know that Canon's 35mm f1,4 is an amazing lens, I use it too from time to time. That being said, 35mm f2is also a great, sharp lens with fast autofocus (at least newer versions), and it makes the whole camera kit light and almost pocketable…

I cut my 35mm "teeth: on a U.S. Navy supplied Leica M-2 kit which was comprised of 35mm, 50mm and 90mm lenses. Ever since then, I have liked the 35mm and 90mm (or 85mm) focal length combination for travel and for general photography.
